83 Scholars from 7 Midwestern States Named to Joyce Ivy’s 21st Summer Scholar Cohort
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The Joyce Ivy Foundation announced the names of 83 young women selected to receive scholarships to participate in summer pre-college academic programs at some of the most rigorous colleges and universities in the country.
“The Joyce Ivy Foundation has been expanding college aspirations for more than two decades by providing access to transformative academic opportunities at a pivotal point in a young person’s life,” said Valerie J.M. Brader, President of the Joyce Ivy Foundation. “We are thrilled to welcome 83 exceptional new Scholars into the Joyce Ivy community, bringing our alumnae network to more than 1,350 Summer Scholars.”
The Summer Scholars Selection Committee included members of the Foundation’s senior leadership, Board of Directors, Associate Board, and Summer Scholar alumnae, all of whom worked together to identify this year’s outstanding cohort.
“The caliber of this year’s applicants was truly remarkable,” said Katharine Janes, Joyce Ivy Foundation board member and 2012 Summer Scholar alumna. “The 2026 Summer Scholars distinguished themselves through their academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, leadership potential, and deep commitment to their communities. We are honored to support these young women as they continue their educational journeys.” The 2026 Summer Scholars come from seven Midwestern states currently supported by the Foundation — Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, and South Dakota — and attend 49 different secondary schools across the region. This year’s cohort reflects the Foundation’s continued commitment to increasing access to highly selective educational opportunities for talented young women throughout the Midwest.
The 2026 Summer Scholars will be honored at Joyce Ivy’s annual Summer Scholars Send Off this spring, where family members, educators, donors, and alumnae will gather to celebrate their achievements and prepare them for a transformative summer experience.
