Joyce Ivy Is Coming To Cleveland!
ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN, October 10, 2019 — The Joyce Ivy Foundation, in partnership with the Higher Education Compact of Cleveland and Cleveland Metropolitan School District, is proud to announce registration for the second annual Joyce Ivy College Admissions Workshop on Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26 at the East Professional Center in Cleveland, OH. Participation will be free of charge for all attendees. Advance registration is required.
Building on the success of the spring Joyce Ivy College Admissions Symposium (JCAS) and the 2018 Joyce Ivy College Admissions Workshop (JCAW), this year’s program will be expanded to two half-day events (8:00 am – 12:30 pm). Friday, October 25 is designed for counselors, college access professionals and educators to interact with college admissions representatives regarding best practices to support students throughout the college application process. Saturday, October 26 will feature interactive college admissions and financial aid workshops designed for talented female high school sophomores, juniors, and their families to learn more about admission to highly selective colleges and the process of applying for financial aid.
“Until now, Joyce Ivy’s in-person programming has been concentrated in Michigan,” remarked Allison Jegla, Joyce Ivy’s Vice President for Program Development. “We are thrilled for the opportunity to host an event in Cleveland and engage counselors, educators, students, and families who haven’t previously been able to connect with our organization in this way.”
“Attending JCAS when I was in high school served as an important launching point in my college application process,” says Ashley Lane, Assistant Director of JCAW. “By expanding our programming to the fall semester and Cleveland, we will be able to reach even more students and educators with this critical information on college admissions and financial aid.”
JCAW will feature both full-group presentations and interactive workshop sessions. Each component will be led by admissions representatives from some of the country’s most selective colleges and universities, including Amherst College, Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, Mount Holyoke College, and Wellesley College.
Maggie McGrath, Director of the Higher Education Compact of Greater Cleveland shared, “The Compact is thrilled to partner with the Joyce Ivy Foundation in providing this inside look at the college admissions process. CMSD students matriculate to highly competitive colleges each year and we want to expand students’ and families’ awareness of the opportunities at these types of schools.”
Participants interested in attending the program on either day may register on the JCAW page of the Joyce Ivy Foundation website. Capacity is limited, and early registration is encouraged.
